Avignon Lobby

A sweeping mahogany staircase curves through the double height lobby, its black patterned runner drawing the eye up toward the paneled gallery above.

From the gilded dome the chandelier drops toward a seating vignette below, the full height of the lobby in one frame.

Seen from above, the black runner sweeps the curve of the stair in pure geometry.

From the left of the entry the stair unwinds across the marble floor, panelled walls warm behind it.

Straight on, the runner climbs between wrought iron balustrades toward the landing light.

An ornate bronze newel holds the foreground, the stair curving away behind it.

From the balcony the lobby falls away past a faceted crystal globe on the rail.

The crystal newel globe fills the frame, light broken across its facets.

Descending, the ironwork and patterned runner lead the eye to the lobby floor.

Mahogany trim meets a black lacquer inset, layered gold moulding framing the damask panel beyond.

At floor level the runner shows its weave, the rail curving away above.
