A Yorkville residence where heritage brickwork, arched voussoirs and a gabled roofline meet a contemporary rear addition in black steel and glass. Inside, quarter-sawn oak millwork runs continuously from the kitchen through the halls and stair, paired with brass fittings, stone vanities and a skylit primary bath. Herringbone floors and tall black-framed windows carry daylight deep into every room, culminating in a courtyard that ties the kitchen, dining and garden into a single sequence.

01 Grounds
Stacked black steel windows and wrought iron balconies rise above glazed doors, the whole rear of the house opening onto its private courtyard.

02 Red Brick
Arched brick voussoirs and hand-detailed bargeboard trim give the gable its ornament, the brick warm beneath a canopy of leaves.

03 Kitchen
A blackened steel hood and range anchor the oak kitchen, tall steel windows framing the garden just beyond the counter.

04 Dining
An oak-clad wine column is worked into the millwork just steps from the dining table, the joinery running unbroken between them.

05 Detail Of
A row of polished brass knobs catches the light across the range, the kind of detail felt more than noticed.

06 Hallway
Floor-to-ceiling oak joinery lines the hallway, its vertical grain set against the herringbone floor below.

07 Built-in Oak
Open display shelving and a built-in coffee station are worked into the oak wall with the same precision as the cabinetry beside them.

08 Stair
Oak treads turn beneath a slim black steel rail, integrated lighting tracing the line of the stair to the floor below.

09 Sunlit Room
Afternoon light rakes across the herringbone floor through tall black steel windows, the trees outside filling the glass.

10 Cushioned Window
A cushioned bench is built into the millwork beside the steel-framed doors, a quiet perch caught in the afternoon light.

11 Bathroom
A freestanding tub sits beneath a broad skylight, oak millwork and wood flooring keeping the sunlit room warm.
